HIRIKO among Europe’s most innovative projects
22-06-2010The “HIRIKO” Project has spent its first long night in Berlin. This was a night –that of of 5th June- full of professionals, entrepreneurs, academics, projects, exhibitions, innovation and consultations. The original “Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften” party was organised by INNOZ and EUREF INSTITUTE in various emplacements in the German capìtal. The HIRIKO project was the number one protagonist in the old Berlin Gasometer.
Ryan Chin, Pedro Basterrechea, the HIRIKO technical coordinator and Juanjo Brizuela were invited by the organisation. The videos and the development schemes of the new vehicle occupied the installations that the EUREF INSTITUTE is rebuilding in the old Berlin Gasometer. Quite a spectacular setting. A few days before –on May 27- HIRIKO had aroused considerable interest in its presentation to the media.
Especially noteworthy among the visits were those by the Chairman of Toyota in Germany; that by Andreas Reinhart from the ICT for Electric Mobility, which publishes a journal on European energy-related projects in which HIRIKO is to be present; and that by Thomas de los Santos, CEO of “Innovative MOBILITY”, among others. Among the academic visitors were Andreas Knie, from the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlín (Social Science Research Center Berlín); – Kai Strunz, from Technical University Berlín and Ernst Huenges, from the German Research Centre for Geosciences.
EUREF leader Florián Lennert and INNOZ head Jürgen Peters expressed their interest in continuing their collaboration work with HIRIKO. For the Basque corporate delegation this was “an excellent experience and also a great opportunity in terms of the development of HIRIKO in Europe and in Germany, the cradle of the automobile and singularly a country of reference in terms of mobility and sustainability in cities”.
